Pulled up overwintered onions, planted out 30 dwarf French bean plants and celery seedlings, plenty of weeds pulled up along the way.

Chopped and dropped a load of tall weeds at the far end of the plot, harvested the first pink fir apple spuds and a pitiful haul of peas.

Harvested the broad beans.  This leaves me with an empty patch, and I've got a bit of spare space elsewhere as well.

So what can I plant out now that will be ready before the frosts arrive?  I've got kale, leeks, cabbages and purple sprouting already.   Any ideas?

Sow some carrots & beetroot, lettuces, French beans?

Started to dig up my overwintered onions both red and white and weeded and turned over soil at the same time.
Didn't have chance to get them all as too hot.

Last week was a weeding catch up, also lifted all the red onions which were on the small side generally, as were shallots. Garlic did very well on the other hand.

Most of leeks now moved to final resting place, the rest will go when some more potatoes come out. May sow some more carrots if I can find the seed packet.....

Strawberry runners to deal with next, moved the bed this year using runners and they seem to have taken well on the whole, but as expected a pretty modest crop of berries.

Hi all, been a while since i posted due to lots of other things going on. Managed to catch an hour daylight after work and pulled up all the dwarf French bean plants for a bean harvest, pulled all the peas down with zero harvest as they had mildewed while i was on holiday. Put plenty into the compost bins then picked some tomatoes from the potting shed and watered the stuff inside it. I've got some carrots in tall pots as a trial and a load if chilli peppers to hopefully harvest this week. It's been very wet and the non cultivated areas between my beds are still clay so quite muddy! New gardening boots, a military style, are shaping up well though  :)

Had some topsoil delivered  to top up our raised beds , lucky just before the heavens opened. Don't look like I'll have much chance of getting to our plot for a few days.

Got a couple of hours on the plot early evening, however it had rained like mad during the day so very wet under foot. Managed to get some hedge cutting and weeding done, tipped out and sorted the maincrop potatoes and did some general tidying up. We desperately need some dry weather here!

Finished emptying a dalek compost bin, riddled the whole lot and added to a bed that i will grow overwintering onions in. Lovely dark matter and very fine when sieved up. Started turning the next compost bin over into it and adding spent pea, bean plants and the waste material from the riddling. Grabbed a couple of chillies and a plum tomato from the potting shed as the daylight swiftly bid me goodnight.

I took advantage of a lovely sunny day (30C !!) down here and planted out my broccoli tomorrow the cabbages and cauliflowers go in. The soil is still very dry but we are going to get some rain next week and the really warm days will fall away soon  :(  still our winter is normally like a UK spring lets hope that continues!
