Another mince pie question..
« on: November 26, 2018, 15:04 »
So I usually add some stuff to bog standard Robertsonís mincemeat, some chopped apple and a glug of Cointreau for instance, and was wondering if instead of dried cranberries I could add in some of the many red currants I have in the freezer.  What do you good bakers think? Add a bit of tang, or spoil the taste?

I wouldn't add both fresh apple, spirits and redcurrants, cos I'm thinking that might add too much moisture to the mix

I'm not good, I'm not bad - I'm just me, and sometimes I have to apologise for that ;)

Oh yes hadnít thought of that.  But the principle of adding redcurrants to the mix instead of other stuff you think would be ok?

Go for it - I'd make a small trial batch - and then eat them all
