Boosting Health of fruit Trees
« on: July 30, 2018, 14:54 »
I have few young ( 2/3 yr old ) fruit Trees such as Plum, cherry , Different berries , even a fig tree which seems to be doing well
Is there any special nutrition I can give the trees to make them more healthy & productive?? Esp. the plum trees are in relatively poor soil !
Thanks

I've always found that a good mulch of farmyard manure over winter works wonders.  Just make sure you don't pile it up against the trunks.  I buy a few bags of manure from the garden centre in autumn to do the job.

Thank you , you mean dig around the bottom of the trunk & spread the manure around or just all around the bottom of the trunk , not piled against it ??
Same would apply to old plants ? Thanks

Just lay it around the trunk and spread it over about a foot or so from it.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

A mulch is stuff spread over the soil surface, so no need to dig.  Just lay a decent layer in a circle around the trunk as Goosegirl says.  Old trees will benefit from the same treatment :)
