Red Duke of York pretty small on the whole, but same last year. They seem to need a lot of water. Ayrshires (Epicure) generally not bad at all for size, maybe slightly smaller crop.

Kestrel - only one plant dug so far, but a lot of good sized spuds, probably 1.5 kilos off it. Still got nearly two rows in the ground.

Charlotte - grown in two old strawberry planters - have been quite small, but I don't mind that as for salad potatoes. Also probably put too many in! Has needed a lot of watering......

Lady Christl were what you may term as "variable" and were quite scabbed, but this scraped off easily. Charlotte not too bad and still harvesting.

The foliage of the Kestrels has started to die off, so I couldn't resist digging a root, fearing the worst. I was pleasantly surprised with the result - just over 1.7 kilos. One or two have a few scabs, but they're going to get peeled anyway!

Our Kestrels averaged 1.5 kg per tuber, which I was happy with given how dry things have been. Some had quite a lot of scab but easily taken off.
Maris Peer was 1.7kg though, but there were many more smaller tubers (great for salads though) and less scab: grown alongside each other
Charlottes still in the ground and so are the maincrops
