Beetle ID
« on: June 28, 2018, 12:31 »
Found this fella outside earlier in an old washing up bowl.

After looking in my little book my first guess would be a glow worm. I didn’t even know that wasn’t a worm!
However if anyone knows better, especially if it’s ‘foe’ could they please let me know so,that I can deal with appropriately

Could it be a cockchafer? I once had something similar on or by the edge of my pool.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Yes aka May Bug

Glow worms are only about 15mm long whilst these are around 30mm

Academic now as it doesn’t seem to have survived the night! Thought it was a bit sluggish yesterday.
Will keep an eye open for a glow worm though, much more exciting  :D
Thanks for your replies everyone.
