Just moist is right as they don't need too much or the taste gets diluted.

Sarah Raven advocates that (I think), and it makes good sense!
We grow in big pots (not the smaller ones I discussed back in the spring), and also some in big Grobags. Both ways they all go in watering trays.
They'll all be different, as I like to have some real garden soil in the pots as well, because the trace elements are what makes a great flavour - well here they do...
Watering therefore is a hose into the tray edge, with a little around the roots. Feeding comes a little later after a good truss has set, which in this weather is not happening as well as it might!
