Hi all We have got 10 Chickens at this time and they are very happy in there run. We are getting a good amount of eggs even now,
What I'would l would like to know is
How long would we have to keep the new ones away from the older ones so that they don''t fight?
What kind of bird to get next? as my Wife would like some fancy ones that she has seen about. White ones with socks on Myself I just like the bog standard ones, good for eggs and I would say now for meat?
When I say meat We would like to have a cockerel or 2 for meat but we are not allowed to have then on the Allotments.
So it would have to be hens that we have. We are very new to all of this and any advice would be most warmly welcomed.

White ones with socks need very clean and dry conditions . I don't do white with socks !

The birds need to get to se each other for a while before they are mixed. It rather depends upon the nature of your birds but there's bound to be a few ruffled feathers but hopefully not too much

Hi, white with socks in not very clean conditions.  But she's happy

Beware she's always breaking those feathers on her feet.  She's also prone to ripping her claws out.  All in all she's a clumsy but beautiful natured chuck, and I love her.
