... Is forecast here for Friday, is that warm enough to put my pepper seedlings outside in the daytime? Should be warmer than that at least for a few days afterwards.

As long as they are sheltered from any wind and brought back in at night. I have done that with some of tomato and pepper seedlings today.

Sometimes plants have to be put out because of congestion. I keep plants protected with a sleeve of plastic made from a 2l pop bottle. (cut the top and bottom off)  Keeps the wind off them and stops the birds as well. They fit perfectly over a large round yogurt pot.
