Our sultan is a very reliable layer of white eggs and she is comical and docile too. We had a four year old walking round carrying her for most of one afternoon! This was her first egg - they have got a bit bigger since then but in for example a cake recipe requiring 4 eggs I would use 6 bantam eggs which is great considering we can get up to 7 a day!!

ok - giggles.... ehem...

7 eggs a day - we have 7 hens so some days we get 2/3 some days we get 7 it varies but they are getting more towards all laying each day as it gets lighter and they get older (they only started laying in Dec). We have a variety so get some white eggs some regular coloured and one hen lays blue eggs which was a bit of a surprise as we got her (and four others) from a rescue centre so they are of the heinz variety!

The diff coloured eggs look great - when we make up egg boxes to give to friends we put two of each colour in (we have to put a bit of chopped straw in the bottom of the box to make them fit in regular box but that looks great too and we make our own labels - people are so chuffed to get them and we can reuse the boxes when they want more)

Babe those photos made me giggle so much but .....................   I can vouch for Polands too. I have a white crested black and she is called Frothy hubby wanted to call her Guiness but I said that was too manly  :D   They lovely large eggs and everyone always comments on them (the eggs and the chicken).

I would love a gold laced or silver laced one too wonder if I can sneak a few more hens in without hubby noticing
40 hens, 8 cockerels, 3 dogs, 2 rabbits, 8 chinchillas, 2 teenage daughters and O/H
