nope they're really white, like really really white lol,

i noticed straight away that the whites are far far firmer than 'normal' shop bought eggs, the yolks are a lovely deep orange and when they're cooking the look solid is the best way i can describe them lol, i.e they dont 'go all over the place' when they're in the pan.

lovely taste, stronger than 'normal' eggs again  and i cant wait for you lot to come up with some great recipes for me now lol  :D (hint hint)

Poached duck eggs with runny yolks.  Toast and butter. HP and/or Tabasco Sauce.  Heaven!

Are some duck eggs 'duck egg blue' or are they all white?

The blue ones are from the drakes.

I remember we used to get some of each.  If the white ones are from Khaki Campbells, the blue ones must be from another breed.  We had Aylesburys and maybe a bit of Cayuga mixed in.

Nice one Dave well done your girls, how big are they compared to chicken eggs my Aylesburys lay huge eggs   Cook them the same as chicken but a bit longer maybe.  I was told duck egg  whites won't whip but if you put a lot of elbow grease in they will aparently.  Good old processor will have to do it for me :?   I don't think they taste much different to chicken myself what do you say?

Are you going to leave some in to see if she sits?  little baby ducklings so cute

More videos soon please :)

the majority of the eggs were about the size of a small hens egg, even  a little smaller but i figured thats cos they were  the very first ones and they'll probably settle into a size once they're regular ???

the one big 'un in the pics was a good size but surprisingly small when it came out lol

i thought they tasted nicer than hens eggs but my comparison's  with shop bought eggs and i thought i could definitely taste the difference, the look was enough for me, not seen yolks that orange since i was a kid !

as for babies  . . . . .  you do realize that means i'd be building another blummin duck house  . . . . . . like i aint got enough to do lol . . . . . my pallet shed projects coming first i know that much lol

can post ya a vid of me breakin pallets down if ya like lol  :tongue2:

edit: had two poached for my tea tonight and they were fantastic !!!

Ahh you loved building that house

Pallet shed now that sounds fun!! my OH would love that he's into bodging stuff with bits of wood :(  sorry not saying your a bodger.  We live near an Aquatic/garden centre and the owner offered us as many as we want free he is glad to be rid of them.

Oh don't forget to check that straw for eggs, ducks love to hide them in corners    I moved a bale of straw and found 13 behind it!  I still can't work out how she managed to get behind there :?
