These toms have become a supermarket favourite (so I have heard) I have also read that there has been some success at growing them from seed, using the seed from the shop bought toms. Has anyone experimented with this idea, if so to what success?

Yes, you can grow Piccolo from supermarket bought tomatoes 
It's very easy to do it, as well.

Grew Piccolo from the supermarket tom seeds the first year they came on the market !
My thinking was that if the shop ones were tasty home grown would be even better !
Have never had a bad crop from them !

My neighbour grew last year from the seed from the tom, he had decent success, kept going on about how good they were but for some reason he aint growing them this year
