Now everybody is going to argue with me, but I think they do better in a shadier environment. Just a thought and experience of my own. No stress, they will do fine anyways.

For best chitting I keep them on the garage floor, Moggy, in cardboard.

I'd say full light but direct sun should be kept to a minimum.

Oooooh  I have just put my potatoes in trays in my greenhouse.  I think I better move them inside the spare room.  Currently they are in direct sunlight and we are forcast frost.  Better to be safe....

Just a few degrees above freezing is ideal

In the shed on wood tray about four feet from south facing window, worked perfectly last year for an early feb planting.
When the sun shines i dig,
When rain pours i dig
When the wind blows---I SURF.

I've put mine in the loft as its pretty darn cold up there but i don't think it will ever go below freezing like the shed does.
Only thing is it's very dark up there is that ok?
for thousands of years men and women managed to grow fruit and veg for thier families without petrol strimmers, rotovaters, plastic sheets, cars or round-up.

Have moved my spuds from the greenhouse into the unheated garage, about 2 feet from a largish frosted glass window.

Does that look about right now?  The angle is a bit wierd as I took it with my mobile but you get the picture!
