I have four different types of fruit tree growing in large pots. Every year since I have had them they have flowered well but set very few fruit. Anyone have similar? If you have successfully obtained a reasonable amount of fruit what is the secret! I do feed and water them as much as possible.

To be honest - mine didn't do anything much in pots despite watering and feeding.   When I put them in the ground they took off.


What has done well in pots is a fig in a smallish pot and raspberries in a huge pot (Lasted about 3 years before got pot bound).

We have cherry and pear trees in large pots, at least 60cm in Ø. They sulked for the first 2 years despite keeping them watered and fed with BFB every so often. We moved to a new house with south facing garden and bingo, they are laden with young fruit. So maybe a sunny spot is what you need.
