I know we cover these in several posts, but I have yet to find out what size the head should be before cutting!

John's notes are very helpful, as pointed out by Yorkie in one other post, but as this is the plants' second year, the top flower is about the size of a medium fist. Is this the right time, or should I wait a bit longer?

I like Sarah Raven, she has a great book on our shelves, which I follow like Hessayon's books, and that recipe looks scrummy!

I reckon our artichokes are about ready from that video!

I pick my artichokes pretty small - less than the size of my fist. But the variety I grow produces masses! We've eaten 50 odd already from 4 plants. Last year I stopped counting when it got past 160. By then I didn't want to see another one - until now...
