an there very hard to get out    any tips wellcom

The trouble is you have to get the roots out - if you just cut the tops off, they just regrow

However certain plants deserve to be carefully painted with weed killer

I know what you mean. They are one of the few trees that survive in our sea-windswept area and some years they seed like mad!
