We only use about twenty sweetcorn plants, and the year I sowed a packet of seed, they all came up, and we had too many for the space (and us)!

So the policy is to buy just a few plants from our local GC, and we get about eighteen to twenty which is fine for us!

But what a root system these chaps produce! I had to completely demolish the polystyrene container, as the tap roots had got right into the stuff, and were well away to getting into just about every other space available! I didn't really want to turn my back on them...

I know sweetcorn eventually has a massive root ball, but this is really starting early..;0)
