Privet wood chips

The big decision was taken and our privet is coming down - all 42 metres of it.  With a shredder we get some good wood chips. So the question is can I use these wood chips to mulch my raspberry bed and if so do I need to 'dry' them out??  Didin't want to waste them f I can use them.
