Apparently so - cant remember where i read it. They are supposed to just drop off after being held in potato - then feed potato to him after. I've never actually done it though so cant vouch for it - we just trim ours.

thanx for the advice mdueal, not had a problem yet as Bruno is in an arc with one warren, he seems to me to be a bit of a wimp as he actually runs away from me but I guess he's still getting used to me. will keep your advice in mind for when hubby builds his new house, love him so much gonna get him some wives to match. Any particular sort of oil? any advice on special food for cockerels, he's getting layers mash and a handful of corn at the moment, last cockerel was completely free range so he kept himself fed and fit
