Wine Box Growing?
« on: February 02, 2017, 00:21 »
Hello All,

My mate & I have a habit of drinking wine while thinking about the plot - my question is has anyone tried using the (empty of course!) cases to start or grow stuff?

It struck me the other night that although about 14" deep each box has a nice 4" x 4" divider inside, making 12/16 cells.

Any ideas? - Cut the entire box in half maybe so they're only 7" high?

Leave them on the patio to start?

Open the base and plonk on the ground?

We've had no luck with carrots, so I'm thinking of trying to get even 1 divided box going as a tester...

PS - Further to previous posts about the B & S rotovator, it's not been tried lately, but the carb is cleaned out - hopefully this weekend if the weather is good  :D

14" seems too deep if you're splitting them into cells; 7" would probably be better.

Don't forget that you need to add drainage holes.

Why don't you give it a try and let us know how you get on?  Piccies too  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
