Any advice about mycoplasma?

I took delivery of 4 new hybrids a couple of weeks ago and within 2 days they were all sneezing.
One of them got a big swelling across one side of her face so we have treated all of them with antibiotics and the really bad one received 5 injections over the course of 10 days (don't panic, we did them ourselves, so it cost very little - vet trusts us!)
Three birds are now fine but the one with the swelling, whilst much better is still a bit swollen around her eye.
So does anyone know how long this might take to go completely?
Poor birds are desperate to get out in the garden with the others but I don't want them passing illness around.

You'll need to get some different meds from the vet for mycoplasma henny penny :!:

It can be difficult to clear so keep the meds going until you are happy she has recovered.

These are the ones Merck recommends

chlortetracycline, erythromycin, oxytetracycline, spectinomycin, tiamulin, tylosin, or a fluoroquinolone such as enrofloxacin

Thanks for the advice Aunt Sally. We were using OTC powder and Teramycin injections but I'll phone the vet tomorrow and ask for something different. Must be a resistant strain!

Even if your vet is not sure how to treat mycoplasma they will have access to on-line information.

I use the on-line Merck Veterinary Manual.
