Preparing Garlic for Planting
« on: September 15, 2016, 12:04 »
This may seem like a very stupid question so I apologise in advance (im very new to all this)

I bought some garlic last year from the garden centre which grew fantasticly, I still have loads left over and I wanted to plant some so I have a 'second generation crop'.
Do I need to do anything to the bulbs before I break them up for planting?
Dry them out completly over the Rayburn or somthing like that???

Any advice would be appreciated :)

David

I'm still growing the same garlic about 10 years since it was donated by neighbours who were going on a long holiday, so you can definitely keep it going for more than a second generation!  ;)

No special treatment required regarding drying - garlic dries much more readily than shallots or onions, so as long as the individual cloves are still firm they'll be just fine.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
