sweetcorn advice needed

Some varieties are more yellow than others. The true test if ripeness is to pierce a kernel with your nail and squeeze it. If it is clear liquid it is not ripe. If it is milky it is ripe.

The "fringes" are called "silks" and I find that they have to be a really dark brown for the cob to be ripe.

I picked mine when the silks were dark brown and found the although they looked unripe at the tip, they were nice and yellow lower down. They were lovely.
