Strawberries

Hi All. We've been given some strawberry plants, a couple of which have runners, all of which I intend to plant in an old metal wheelbarrow. Drainage isn't a problem as the wheelbarrow is in, shall we say, less than perfect condition. But what do you recommend I fill the barrow with?
