I find the absolute best way is to freeze the cobs while with the leaves still covering them as they act like a protective cover. However this takes up a lot of pace in the freezer which I don't have so I just freeze the whole cobs minus the leaves in thick freezer bags. I've never had a problem with them going tasteless though - maybe it depends on the variety?

Take the husks off wrap in microwavable clingfilm and put in the freezer !

Take out of the freezer pierce the film a couple of times and microwave from from frozen !

Always done this;
Steam the whole cobs for five minutes.
Run under cold water for a minute.
Cut the kernels from the cob. Use a nail in a bit of wood so the cob stands upright and you can then easily cut them off with a sharp knife
Put the kernels straight into the freezer
I use the plastic cereal containers, great way then to just pour out what you want. They are also a tight fit.
That always keeps the flavour for me.

I blanch in boiling water for one min, plunge into chilled water for five to ten then freeze on the cob in vac packed (I suck out the air!) freezer bags. To eat I finish off by boiling straight from frozen.

I've tried the other methods mentioned, but I have found this the best way to preserve flavour, although I boil for 5 minutes rather than steam.
