Hi all,

I’m trying to soften the front of my house with plants, but have no soil in which to plant as the driveway goes right up to the house. So I’ve got some large planters and pots. I guess I’m looking for the most impact I can get i.e the biggest plants! So far ideas are climbing rose or clematis, hydrangea and mock orange. Can anyone suggest anything else that will be happy in a pot. Quite happy to feed and occasionally water during hot spells but preferably something that won’t need much looking after!

The aspect is south facing.

Bamboo, acers (some lovely colours available), palms and fig trees spring to mind, as they don't need much attention and enjoy the sun.  :-)
