Sorry to wee on your cornflakes,  but I think it is the "B" thing.  I've had just such an outbreak and the leaves were clear.

Don't really like cornflakes any how 

Yeah thought as much, have removed as many affected leaves and stems, and given them a good spraying with diathane, hopefully they will last long enough for me to get a few spuds
