Cucumber growing habits...

Cucumber growing habits...

I've got Marketmore and Vert Petit de Paris plants coming on, and I'm trying to decide where and how they should be planted out. I've never grown cucumbers before.

Do these varieties prefer sprawling or vining? That will be the biggest factor in where they end up, I think.

They will naturally sprawl and with a bit of help, climb. Im sure they wont mind whichever. The fruits, however, will be cleaner off of the floor, if that bothers you?

Vert Petit de Paris (pickling cuc ) climbs easily up some mesh, but Marketmore needs a bit of help/tying in.

Thanks. I've planted them out in fish boxes, two to a box, and I'll let them sprawl over those and off the edges. I'm working on the principle that it'll be the best of both worlds... but let's be honest they're just going to die anyway
How big does a plant actually grow?

Market more can get a good 150 cm long from ones I have grown, but I think they could get much longer if well treated. Mine was stuck in a spare space and left to get on with it!
