Hen house fauna

Hi, just cleaned out my hen house and noticed quite a few flies, about 1/4" long.  Should I be concerned or is this normal :?:

I have vacuumed thoroughly, and dusted around all nooks & crannies & perches with barrier red mite powder, though from what I have read I don't think I (or my chickens) have red mite.

If it's flies - no problem  :D   Have you looked at the picture of red mites I have posted in the Parasites Information topic ?

Follow the link in my signature if you need to see what they look like  :D

They were some sort of flying beastie, a little over 1/4 ", looked something like mosquito and were crawling about in the wood shaving/poo on hen house floor.

Inspected hens and no sign of bites and look happy enough.

Give it a good dusting either with lice or mite powder or Diatom,  I'm sure they are not a problem - just looking for a nice warm place for the winter
