lime

how much lime to use when planting cabbage plants

Are you asking about clubroot prevention or just to raise the pH of the soil? I use a good handful for each plant as my soul is very prone to clubroot, works well in the main but some plants still suffer. Am growing clubroot resistant varieties of brassicas this year but am still using lime.

 Nice looking cauli's, i can never get them going,  and when i  do they just bolt, would using lime help....?

I had a load of manure delivered which obviously came from the bottom of the pile as it had a lot of lumps of chalk in it. When I grew brassicas I used to put a lump of chalk in the bottom of each planting hole. the bed was dug over the lumps resurface and I put them back in a bucket ready for next year. What with liming it was a 'belt and braces' approach as my grandfather would say.
