Last year I noticed dead and dying raspberry canes in my row of Glen Amples.  I cut them out but then the next plant along started dying.  This year more canes wilted and when I dug them up the roots were dead.  Should I dig up the rest of the Glen Ample row?  My rows of Polka and Glen Moy seem unaffected.  My fellow allotmenteer two plots along is having the same problem with Glen Ample.  He has offered me a loganberry to fill the gap but I'm wondering if this could also die of whatever disease seems to be in the soil.  Chrisann

This has happened to a couple of allotments holders close to me. They put it down to blight. One cut them down to just under soil level, but the other has dug them up and burnt them.
As far as I know there is no treatment for it, just make sure that they have plenty of space between each cane next time to allow for proper air circulation.
