They can help a lot with the watering.  If you make drainage holes in the base of your grow bag, it can work the other way and help absorb water into the bag from the tray.

It means everything you put in ends up in the compost, rather than all over the greenhouse floor.  Just bear that in mind while the plants are small and be careful not to over water  :)

I use mine as New Shoots suggested.  I also have two that I stand pots and trays in so that they are watered from underneath and seeds aren't washed away by force of water from watering from above.

I have two that I use as a tray for all my seedlings on my shelving in my polytunnel. I did not put holes in them so if I over water them it helps to keep the soil wet on hot days.

I use these in the greenhouse to house all the potted seedlings at this time in the year ... extremely useful.

Last Summer I stood four tomato plants in florists' buckets on one at the plot .... excellent!

I've got 12 of them for all my ring culture tomatoes. They get used at other times to keep plants in pots watered

Hi,
I do a very similar thing with my trays as Sunshineband but when planting toms or peppers into there final pots I add two 3-5 cm strip of capillary matting in the pot (a long the bottom and up each side) I've found this works great.
Dear God, Please can you stop the wind and rain and bring on the nice weather. Amen

You only need to water twice a week, I just fill the trays right to the brim.  I got great crops last year.

We always use these for twelve toms, four peppers and three cuces in the greenhouse.

There's no better way! Simples!

And there will be several more for the outdoor toms when they're ready to go outside!
