Earthed up the spuds on Thursday.  I could only see a few leaf tips emerging, but they can stay safe under the soil for another week

My spuds have not come up yet, but I only planted them a couple of weeks ago and it usually takes a bit longer than that to see the first shoots. But yes, it looks like a few chilly nights next week with ground frosts, it is turning out to be a cool spring this year, just hope it doesn't turn out to be the year without a summer  .

Has been nice and sunny here saturday and today, in fact warmer outside than in,  look at the weather charts i
use and it looks ok to me for next  week,,

Lucky you, presumably, IOW is sheltered from the cold Northerly winds. It's only 7C here and feels colder in the wind

We are due 0-1 or 2 degrees most evenings this week.  I don't expect that will be it either.  Our last frost date is mid May.  I'll not put anything out until then.  And only then if the forecast looks favourable.  Happy to wait until end May.  Much after than and the greenhouse will be a bit over run.

Is that the saying that goes "Oak before ash, expect a splash. Ash before oak, expect a soak", presumably meaning we will have a sunny intervals and showers summer if the ask is first to blossom, and a 2012 type summer if oak is first?
