Last Frost Date and Gardening Calendar Link
« on: March 30, 2016, 10:00 »
http://gardenfocused.co.uk/adjust-dates-uk.php

Just found this and it looks really useful - gives you the last frost date in your area and then suggested calendar for sowing, planting and preparing.  You can put in the veg that you grow.

For a beginner like me - looks like a handy reminder.

easy layout to follow for planting and work needing doing per month but I always know that the last frost date for our allotments is roughly 3 weeks later than the date that comes up as our last frost date.  We are on a very exposed site where the frost is swept across and even my son and daughter in law 50 yards away are not affected.

It's the odd unexpected one like we had at the start of June one year that doesn't help in any forecast. Or snow on May 1st. Nothing can be totally accurate and you are maybe better if you know your own area well.

With all these things, you have to use some common sense and keep an eye out for unexpected weather.  But as an aide memoire for me I think it's another helpful tool to keep things on track.

I know the last frost date for me will be a little later than it says, as despite being near the sea, my allotment is high up and quite exposed.  Back garden and greenhouse however are positively balmy!

Agree with that, the old tomato growers on our moss (famous Blackpool Toms) always worked on May13th for our last frost date, something I have always stuck too, most of these sites say last week of April.

The calendar also shows a crop rotation plan at the end for the veg I am growing, very useful. You live and learn, some things in life really are free!
