Has anyone grown these toms before?
« on: February 17, 2016, 15:37 »

I know it says place under a light but could they work in the UK without one as they are from China?

Many thanks

I've never grown them but I bet you could bring them on like other tomato plants once they've germinated and before planting them out in your greenhouse or garden.

Once your tomato seedlings have germinated, what do you do with them?

I wouldn't buy seed from China, but you can buy them from the uk - ebay has UK suppliers
and I see Suttons are also listing them.

Could be up to 5 weeks delivery from that eBay supplier!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I was just wondering if anyone had grown them I'm not planning on buying them as I already have way to many types of tom for this year.

I wanted to know about growth and taste etc for future sowings.

Many thanks.

I grew a few plants a couple of years ago when they were first introduced, though they were a trial variety then and not fully stable. From memory, they grew and cropped well enough in a polytunnel, the fruits were juicy with a nice mild taste. The fruit on mine only had faint black colouring, it looks like J&L Gardens have continued to select as their site shows lovely black and yellow toms. I think if you bought seeds from China, without knowing the quality of seller, you might get just about anything back.
