i bought a bag of international kidney last sunday in Wilko's 5 tubers for £1. they had 2.5kg nets of spuds alongside loose ones. no onions or shallots though. i only went into Home Bargains for loo roll, i came out with 10 bags of goodies. i might even get more at that price  :)

Just got back from Home Bargains. They have 300grm Centurian and Stuttgarter onion sets @ 79p.
They are large sets and there are an average of 45 sets per net.

Just got back from our B&M.  Their house was bare, no onion sets or seed potatoes at all.   Wilko had a limited selection of spuds - Rocket, Maris Peer, Maris Piper and Desiree for £2.29 for 2.5kg, and Sturon onion sets for £1.50 for a large net (150/200??), same for a net of Red Onions, no variety given.  Quite good value for those.  Also have Red sun and golden gourmet shallots at same price, and 50 centurion onion sets for £1.50 too.  I didn't buy anything as not the varieties I want and the potatoes are cheaper at our potato day in a couple of weeks.

Called into Wilco's this morn, plenty of scruffy looking seed potatoes but NO onion sets so far.
The sets are what I had called in for.
Some nurseries are having their potato weekend this (weekend) I shall get what potatoes I want then, hopefully!

Cheers!
STOP, and smell the roses!

Popped into our nearest Wilcos this morning, and they have loads of seed potatoes and also onion sets in.  My nearest is in Redditch, so possibly most of their other branches will be getting their stock in soon.

I normally order my spuds online but haven't done so yet, is the quality ok from places like Home Bargains?  Will if affect my crop?  (because of course I'm an excellent potato grower - lol!)  I won't be needing many this year...

If I can grab a bargain from one of the discount stores then I will. Try to get them early as I don't fancy the idea of them languishing on the shelves under all the store lighting and heating.
