Not just talk  ;)  My seeds went in Boxing Day and with the mild weather, I have just stuck them on the windowsill inside.  I'm sure they will be up very soon and can then transfer to the kitchen, where it is cooler and brighter.

Other than starting some lentils off for eating as sprouted seeds, that's it for now

I've just come in from clearing space on the greenhouse staging by storing away all the dahlia tubers, and got out the bag of compost, which is nicely warm from being inside.

Now off to the seed box  :D

Just finished sowing my onions in a cold greenhouse.  This year I'm doing Ailsa Craig, Bedfordshire Champion, Red Baron and Niz-37.....  I've also sown some Long Red Florence shallots.

Yes, thanks for the nudge. I put the big propagator into the greenhouse, filled it with sand and now it's warming up nicely ready for my very first onions to be grown from seed. Can't wait for my Simply Seeds order to arrive

I am growing onions from seed this season (and shallots). Can't wait to get started. Just need a break in the weather to get my new greenhouse up

My seeds are obviously in tune with me and my itchy fingers   It is just the first tiny signs of white emerging from the seeds.

I am not getting carried away yet though.  We must be due a winter of some sort soon   I might do some cabbage in a few weeks and the mangetout in the greenhouse will be repeated (unless it does suddenly go sub-zero).  I also have some banana shallot seeds that I may start soonish, depending on how the weather shapes up  ;)

You are right, we shall surely have some cold weather eventually. I am keeping off sowing the mangetout for the unheated minitunnel for another three weeks or so. Looked hard at the aubergine packet this morning, but there is not yet space on the kitchen windowsill for the propagator, so back in the box it went  ::)

I have sown some 'Global F1'onion seeds on boxing day in a 60 cell modules. 2 seed per module. Inside a propagator in the poly tunnel. I have some other varieties I will sow at a later date.

Our Japanese onions are still in their pots, four per spot, and some are about five inches long, so we're hardening them off (if you can do such a thing in December), and will try and pop them into their beds under cloches!

It really is a quandary, but my feeling is, that if it is so warm, why not give them a holiday, and let them get going sooner rather than later!

The ground is warm enough for their roots to get going, Growster, so sounds a good idea  :D
