Surprising celeriac

I seem to remember moaning on here just a couple of months ago about the lack of size of my celeriac. Well, what a transformation over the last few weeks! Just harvested two plants out of the dozen or so growing. They are about 9 inches in diameter, well-formed and with no damage from pests or diseases. The ones I lifted four weeks were big enough but these are the best I've ever seen, including those in ASDA. Must be the long mild autumn combined with all the manure they were fed on.

Cracked it!

This is the second year I have had really fine celeriacs. I put down lots of compost bought really cheaply from the local authority's composting plant and mixed some powdered manure into the soil once a month.   Apart from that all I did was weed and earth them up a bit from time to time. Hardly any watering.
