Hi from damp East Yorkshire

 I have just been allocated a neglected and overgrown allotment where I have moved to but having taken a look I find it is very chalky soil. Coming from heavy clay this is literally new territory for me. Any tips? I have taken up the allotment and made the move due to retirement. Hoping to have lots of time to devote to it - if only it would stop raining!
