Bare root Raspberries

They have just arrived but more so The soil still looks a bit lumpy when I put them into the trench I'm frightened about air pockets in the soil do I need to add some soil from the garden centre when I plant them thanks

The raspberries will be there a long time, so it is worth making sure the soil you plant them in is good.  If you dig in farmyard manure, or soil improver (made from green waste or spent mushroom compost), that will really help.   It mixes with the soil to break it up and add goodness to it.

If you ask at the garden centre, they should be able to point you towards the bags of products they have.  Ask for soil improver for planting fruit.
