 Went to the plot today to get some leeks got them home to make leek soup as I cut them and went to wash the soil off
I found  little black and orange  3mm long pupae  embedded in the stems and bulbs, I took them out of one of the leeks and squashed  them. the leeks are also going a rusty colour

I have three 12ft bed full of leeks  will they all be like this now,  I always do  crop rotation first time I have used these beds for leeks

Sometimes you get a patch of leeks with it - sometimes it's every leek you planted 

After having them for the last 2 years, I seem to have escaped this year, even though I forgot to cover them.

Some people now routinely cover leeks each year - it's become such a pest!

for the last 3 years we have been losing all out leeks  due to the leek moth . i covered mine this year and lost the first lost ,they must have snuck under , and the second batch are showing signs of another invasion.
next year im gonna try the traps
