Pumpkins coming home tomorrow...
« on: September 29, 2015, 21:11 »
Mrs Growster and I are off down to The Patch to get the yellow beasts into some sort of trailer, to get them home tomorrow.

We're having to use a Billops of Snortford truck, as I can't manage a wheelbarrow as well as I could when I was a younger Growster, but anyway, here goes...

Like a twillit, I didn't register for the pumpkin competition here, as we were late starters, and anyway, younger daught's girls will be away for Halloween, so they'll miss the fun on the day, although soon, they'll have one to carve up as they want!

Ours will be in full glory, right in front of a local disbeliever, who walks past on most occasions..;0)

I wonder what our's will say though..;0)

Well, you might not have joined the competition but we definitely need to see pictures. Preferably with tape measures or some foreground or other interest so that we have something to compare against.

Thanks for these replies...

Here is the biggest brute, which we won't carve, as it might collapse or something, especially after I've had a go at it!

It's in the window, so everyone can be frightened off, er - well it does us anyway!

CQ, our squash are nearly ready too, but they go in the shed for storage - the freezer's just too full!

Snoop, I took this pic as you asked! If you want a further one, I need to stand in the graveyard...

Thank you. My curiosity is satisfied! I've never tried growing proper pumpkins, just squash. What will you do with it? There's soup for an army there.  :nowink:

The first of the many  :D

They are so beautiful! Shame to cut em up  :D

They will be made into soup, cake, curry, pie, roast round the meat, mashed, muffins and anything else of I can think of.  Fancy having a go at pumpkin ravioli!  :tongue2:

These are:-  New England Pie, Burgess Vine Buttercup, Sunshine, Baby Bear (or Small Sugar)
