peach tree training
« on: September 06, 2015, 16:29 »
hi.

has anyone got a peach tree?

if so how do you train it.

all the other stone fruit i am training in a fan fashion, but the peach tree seems to have one main branch going almost straight up and lots of thin branches of that. the branches seem to want to come off at right angles to main branch, seems to be lending it's self to being trained espallier style. i have read that it is not advisable to espallier stoned fruit, but think i may to train it that way.

if i do train espalier how many branches should i leave on? i hate cutting healthy branches off but i know it should be done to make the branches left stronger and crop better and to save it getting cramped.

any experience of peach tree's welcome. thanks
