onion sets,shallot storage

I have just got my onoins and shallots, what is the best way to store them to stop them from sprouting before planting, i know they should be kept in a cool place but would the bottom of the fridge be to cold? fridge temp 40f/5c would this temp damage them?

The fridge is ideal, Clive, I use this method myself.

i just take mine out of their nets - chuck them in one of those handy blue veg / mushroom crates and leave them in the shed

Fridge temp is good but watch out for weak lime green shoots. I prefer a cold light place.
