John Harrison, diarist on Allotment Growing, recommends visiting your local site and talking to the site manager. He says: "If you can convince them you are serious and committed you may find yourself with a plot sooner rather than later."

Neglected plots are regarded as a nuisance. "A lot of people rent with good intentions and do nothing," he adds.

I think a lot of people pass by the home page, maybe with just a fleeting glance and come straight to the forums, but it is worth lingering there. It's not the URL, but the toitle of the home page is " Allotment Growing Vegetable, Fruit & Herb Gardening.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Technically the Poultry Pages are a seperate site - but there's a lot of interlinks between them all.  A lot of shared intereests between veg growers, poultry keepers etc.

And I'm a bit slow on the uptake John (but you're too nice to say that)

It was like taking the blinkers when I realised how much there is on here!

You're not slow - a lot of people come onto the forums but don't look at the rest of the site.  I try and announce new bits on the site via the diary bit in 'new on site'

That's the problem, John. A lot of people I suspect bypass that bit & have a 'favourite' either to the forum of their choice or to 'postings since last visit' & never get to see the home page.

That's fine if they're happy but I have a load of stuff in information that I think would be helpful

I can't really do more than I have, putting menus to things at the top and bottom of the page,

I'm always defaulted to the home page, the title is different in the home page and on this page (Allotment Gardening / Allotment and Vegetable Gardening).

Things move on - and the forums layout doesn't quite work the same way. Officially the main site is Allotment Growing -  Vegetable, Fruit & Herb Gardening but I had trouble fitting everything in on the forum.

I think it's pretty clear they're the same site.
