I've been sent these pictures by a friend who can't identify this plant she's been given. It's got me a bit stumped as well. And the more I look at it, the more different things I think it could be.

At first I thought it was a squash, but the leaf stems don't look right and are more like a strawberry, but then the leaves don't really back that up.

Go on, show me up for the novice I really am

I would say Alchemilla.

I agree, and if you sprinkle some water over the leaves, they will collect the droplets mainly in the centre with smaller ones towards the edges.
