I have this every morning for breakfast, making it at about 7.30am after opening the coop door.

As we have had shell problems lately I decided for the last three days to put 3 desert spoons of porridge, straight from the pan into a small plastic dish. Then I put mine in a bowl and add suggar

At lunch time I get the plastic bowl down with the cold porridge in it and leave it for my 3 hens. At first they were a bit nervous but now almost fight to get at it, goudging out great lumps and then pecking each others beaks clean.

My mix is cup of Quaker, cup of milk, cup of water, heated in s saucepan on the stove. OH nukes hers in the microwave

the chooks don't need milk in theirs. I wouldn't give it to them regularly.  Just a treat.

I make mine with warm water and add either a spot of honey or crushed garlic the girls love it.

Goats milk would be ok, would it? In the depths of winter I make a tray bake of porridge oats mixed with suet and baked in the Rayburn for a few minutes to set. That's a special treat for icy conditions.
