Flowering courgette
« on: May 25, 2015, 17:49 »
I've just planted my Midnight container courgettes and still keeping them inside as its v v windy up here in Lancs and cool. Today. Noticed a large yellow flower which will open tomorrow and it's a female! Definitely! I've matched it up to all the pics online and had a sneaky peak inside the flower, definitely female! I have a tiny male stem growing which is nowhere near flowering.. But in my greenhouse, I have a male flower from a Patio Star courgette just about to flower. if I pollinate one to another will I end up with a mutant courgette? Or nothing? Otherwise, the female flower will not pollinate at all as the males are not developed yet. Any advice appreciated. Can't believe how good the courgettes are and all grown in Jacks Magic!

Cross pollination from one courgette variety to another will not affect the fruit - only the offspring from the seed.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
