Solvent Weld Pipe Structures
« on: May 02, 2015, 07:03 »
OK I have bought some Solvent weld waste pipe and fittings 32mm dia. and constructed a Pea / Cucumber frame (see photo below) to take netting the fittings are 68p from Tool Station and the pipe £1.59 from Wicks for a 1.5m length.

I would like to make some larger structures i.e. netting cages etc. using 3 way and 4 way connectors in the corners like the girl has in the video below but can not find a source for them, anyone know where these can be purchased?

Here is another build and I have found the Cross Tee he uses on the top of the mini greenhouse, he gets around the 3way & 4way connection problem by doubling up on the connections at these joints and using a small length of pipe to fix them together. But sourcing the corner connections on the tomato build would be a lot neater.

I have no idea, but need to build a biggish fruit cage this year so would be interested in doing the same.

Try City Irrigations they are down the road from me, you can google them. on the other hand have you looked at Key Clamp size 5. it is a metal system but would last for ever and I expect the plastic fittings would cost the same or might be more expensive.

Crh75 - thanks for the links but the 3 way and 4 way fittings I'm looking for are for the corner at the top of the frame and the next level down, like the ones circled below and in the first video.

Wicks and Tool station call the 4 way a Cross Tee

MarkW - Thanks but I could not find anything like them on the city irrigations web site

Unfortunately I don't know where you can get them, they are not something me or hubby have come across working in plumbers merchants for years. However I also wanted to add make sure the pipe and fittings are uv stable. You are fine with solvent weld but anyone else thinking of doing this, please don't think you can get away with push fit pipe and fittings  ;) :)

I just found ways of giving me what I wanted using the cheap 2 and 3 way Tee connections in the end.
