Did you hear me swearing !!
« on: April 28, 2015, 18:46 »
Just been up the garden to bring the greenhouse stuff indoors........ only to find....................

all my leek seedlings have been dug up and tossed all over the place  >:(

Don't think I can save any, so I'll have to sow again and keep my fingers crossed *sigh*

Wonder what the heck did that

Sorry to hear that MOS, I had something similar a few months back when something got into my greenhouse and trashed my leeks, I salvaged some and now they are doing well, don't forget they are tough little things and should bounce back with a bit of tlc, cheers Dave
Today i will be mainly wearing no trousers

Cant imagine what would be bothered digging them up? They weren't pulled rather than dug were they?

I was gurgling the variety I've planted this year http://www.seedaholic.com/leek-torledo.html and it says you can make 2 sowings the second being as late as mid July  to give a later crop.

Failing that there's always the garden centre for a block of them.

A big hole in the compost where they'd all been dug out, no poo so don't think it's a cat.

Good news about a late sowing though  :)

Mum! You don't swear do you? :nowink: :nowink:

In my back garden the blackbirds like to sort through looking for worms so I have to net the trays

So that was you swearing was it. ::) ::)

Bet your swearing wasn't as bad as mine when I found that something had done the same to my tray of leek seedlings about a month ago.

Mine were out on the patio.  I squished them back but got another tray on the go too. The first tray seemed to recover so now I have 2 trays of leeks.

I suspected the foxes who have been digging up pots and other parts of the garden in search of food.

The other suspects are the magpies.
This growing lark is a bit of a fight innit?

that's a good point about blackbirds - big clods of soil/compost on a lot of my pots (thankfully not planted up) have been scratched up and tossed all over the patio where they have been digging around
