[Penny-Wise]

I boiled one of my hen's eggs today and when I peeled it,  at one end where the air bubble usually is there were lots of little air bubbles and just that area had a really rubbery texture.  It's not an old egg (it was horrendous to peel) and otherwise it looks and smells ok.  Does anyone know what causes this?
